How It All Began
A passion for food education grew into a mission to make fresh food accessible to everyone.
Let Us Learn was founded in 2016 by Gina Brown, a former culinary arts and baking instructor who believed that connecting children with food through gardening and cooking could inspire healthy habits and a lifelong appreciation for fresh, nutritious food.

But the mission soon grew.
It started with a local farmer who wanted to donate leftover produce after each farmers market but couldn’t find anyone to pick it up. We knew good, locally grown food shouldn’t go to waste—especially when neighbors could use it. So, we started Veggie Rescue.
Then, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought our educational programming to a halt. It also brought a growing need into focus: making sure our neighbors had access to fresh food, with dignity and respect.
That moment helped shape the organization we are today.
Today, all of Let Us Learn’s programs focus on food access and the barriers that can stand in the way. Through our School Gardening Program in six Floyd County schools, Veggie Rescue, and our Pay-As-You-Can Farmstand, we bring children, families, farmers, and neighbors together around fresh, local food.
